What is Reiki?

Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive hands-on healing technique which uses spiritual energy to treat mind, body and spirit. It is a developed healing system that originates from Japan and is now recognised by the NHS.
Reiki works with the electromagnetic frequencies within us, much as X-rays, ultra-sound and ECG are used to measure electromagnetic energy in different parts of our body.

Reiki focuses on chakras. Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or vortex and there are seven major chakras in the human body. These are an essential part of our body’s energy system because they are connected to our physical and emotional health. When a chakra is healthy, balanced and fully open, so are its connected body parts but if a chakra is blocked, damaged or partially closed, then the health of the connected body parts reflect this.
What to Expect
You will lie comfortably and fully clothed on a treatment bed whilst I use specific hand positions and symbols to channel energy into different parts of your body from head to the feet.
This is a relaxing experience which in no way is invasive and does not touch intimate body parts. Some people will feel energy flowing in particular parts of their bodies and sometimes they will feel nothing – this doesn’t mean reiki is not working. Reiki is an intelligent energy and will go where needed and you may feel its effects some time after your session.
